Hay is a Danish design company founded in 2002, known for its furniture, lighting and decorative objects.Â
In the space of just twenty years, the company has succeeded in establishing an impeccable quality-price ratio for its designs, which are both luxurious and accessible, well designed and well manufactured, and now distributed worldwide.Â
Scandinavia Design - which was one of the first distributors - is now one of the leading dealers and connoisseurs in France.Â
We'd be delighted to welcome you to our two showrooms if you're passing through the region. If that's not possible, we'll be happy to give you advice and offer free samples to help you choose your floor coverings.
Mette and Rolf Hay, founders and creative directors of Hay
The designers who collaborated with Hay, at their Copenhagen offices.
Among Hay's greatest successes are the Mags modular sofas, which revolutionised the sector and have since been copied many times, but never dethroned thanks to the constant expansion of the range (addition of new coverings, successive releases of the Mags Soft, Mags Soft Low and Mags Low versions in particular). Â
The remarkable About A Collection began with the now-famous AAC22 chair, which was the first to combine a large polyurethane shell with a universal wooden base.
Here again, Hay truly revolutionised the multi-purpose designer chair sector and was copied extensively.Â
Hay has maintained its lead by extending the concept to include chairs of all shapes and for all uses, as well as stools, armchairs, tables and a sofa.Â
The Palissade collection of outdoor furniture by Rennes-based designers Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec has been an outstanding success, winning instant acclaim for its versatility and balanced elegance.
Alongside this creative activity, Hay has also distinguished itself through a policy of intelligent re-editions, from the series of J wooden chairs (J41, J77, J104, etc.) from the 1940s to George Nelson's iconic Bubble lamps from 1947, as well as more demanding pieces of furniture such as Gerrit Rietveld's Crate series from 1934 and the remarkable collection of tables and chairs designed by the Swiss designer Bruno Rey in 1971.
Today, Hay is considered the leading publisher of new Scandinavian design. As a result of this success, Hay joined forces with the American Herman Miller in 2020 to form a more economically powerful, but just as creative, group.Â
