Over the years, Flos has received numerous international awards for its design excellence, cementing its reputation as a leader in the premium lighting sector.

Some of his most iconic designs include the Arco lamp designed by Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni, the Taccia lamp, also by the Castiglioni brothers, and the Gatto lamp series, which show how Flos revolutionized the lighting industry with avant-garde ideas.

The company continues to explore new technologies and materials, always focusing on sustainability and energy efficiency. Collaborations with contemporary designers keep the brand at the forefront of innovation in lighting design, ensuring Flos remains at the forefront with products that combine timeless aesthetics and cutting-edge technology.

Shortly after the creation of Flos, Dino Gavina took advantage of an American technique, explored in particular by George Nelson (who himself imported it from Sweden), which made it possible to create lighting fixtures that were both graphic, innovative and very comfortable to the eye by stretching a synthetic canvas over a light skeleton: this is how the Cocoon, Taraxacum and Fantasma lamps were born, created by Tobia Scarpa and the brothers Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni.

At the time, Dino Gavina had seized an American technique, explored in particular by George Nelson (who himself had imported it from Sweden), which made it possible to create lighting fixtures that were graphic, innovative and very comfortable. to the eye by stretching a synthetic canvas over a light skeleton: this is how the Cocoon, Taraxacum and Fantasma lamps were born, created by Tobia Scarpa and the brothers Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni.

Under the leadership of Sergio Gandini, who moved the company to Brescia to take advantage of a more promising environment, Flos ("flower" in Latin) then experienced rapid development, absorbing Italian, German and Scandinavian influences to give birth to many design icons, such as the revolutionary Arco by the Castiglioni brothers. In 1972, a major exhibition at MoMA in New York introduced the brand to design enthusiasts around the world.

From then on, Flos grew steadily, thanks to a clever balance between aesthetic audacity, craftsmanship and technology: Gino Sarfatti's Arteluce company was bought at the start of the 1980s; a new international exhibition celebrated Achille Castiglioni in 1984; the Antares company, specializing in light-emitting diodes, was purchased in 2000; international designers collaborate with the group, such as the French Philippe Starck and the brothers Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, the British Jasper Morrison, Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby, the German Konstantin Grcic, the Dutch Marcel Wanders, the Cypriot Michael Anastassiades and the studio Japanese Nendo.
